My daughter has been blessed with a beautiful loose curl as baby soft and her delicate little skin. The day my daughter was old enough to speak, she stood in front of the mirror as declared to the world just how beautiful her hair was. And it is. The problem with curly hair in the winter is that you have to use water to freshen it up, and as a kid, running around can make beautiful curls into knotted nightmares. Tis’ the season of family gathering and tiny people running laps around the house. The best thing this mom can do is tie up her curls to give her the freedom to run around without fighting the frizz off her face by the end of the night.
I start off by washing her curls with Johnson’s Baby Shampoo & Conditioner for Thick & Curly hair. Her tangles instantly disappear in the shower and they stay soft and hydrated which is super important for curly hair. Then I add a bit of Johnson’s leave in conditioner to her tips. Curly hair girls know how important it is to keep the ends hydrated. It is super light weight so it doesn’t weigh them down. After running around and hours later, I detangle her curls with Johnson’s No More Tangles detangling spray and then I work my magic to keep her hair flawlessly in place. The less I have to pull with the brush, the better. If I start to pull she screams “use the spray, use the spray!” She knows what works. Next I take a section off the top and tie into a pony with a fun color elastic. We went for blue because it is her new favorite color. I blame Elsa.
Then I take another section and tie a pony into the existing pony and repeat this step all the way down. It makes her hair look longer than it is.
Then I add a giant bow to the top and her hairstyle, which is really a fun play on accessories and a way to keep her hair tame, is done. Best part is that it takes less than three minutes to do and works well for school too.
I’ve used this line since the little diva was born and when I run out and have to use something else, I feel instantly lost. Its just not the same. What do you do to keep your little one’s curls in place?
