When we moved into our new home, I was excited about all the changes we would make. Prior to moving in, we had all of the wallpaper removed and the peach walls repainted to a very soft grey throughout. We began plans to transform our entire first floor, the kitchen, the family room, the half bath, and our laundry room. The house, while in great shape, was extremely dated. We moved the door and changed the floors in the boring laundry room before we found out that I was pregnant again. All plans came to a halt. Another baby was very unexpected. Our kitchen would have to wait a few more years, the upstairs pushed back further, and the laundry room would have to do as is. A small sacrifice for the amazing return. After the baby was born, I started moving things around in the basement ad redecorating room with things I already had. A bit on that in a moment. Here were my original plans for the room.
There is no way I could afford wallpaper now but I could still paint the door and create a folding station using the old doors from the backyard shed, left in the garage by previous owners instead of buying a new table. We had frames that I bought for our apartment in the city and never used so I thought it would be a great idea to create simple and pretty, French-inspired yet minimalistic printables to put up.
In reality, simplifying our “to-do” list for our home has allowed us more time to hang back as a family outdoors, though that does mean more laundry. Never the one to tell my kids to not roll in the dirt (or chase each other with gross things they find outside), I am grateful for a prettier laundry room (that one day will be finished) because of course the loads are three times as much and only getting bigger. And as dirty as we get (dirt isn’t just for kids), the only gross thing I stray from are sulfates and other irritants in our home. Thankfully, aside from new artwork, my new laundry room is now also home to all® fresh clean Essentials™ laundry detergent*, seriously free of all that ‘dirty’ stuff, just simple. And because I am constantly talking about making my life easier, I downloaded the Amazon app on my phone so I can order the essentials, like diapers and of course, laundry detergent and have it delivered right to my door.
