The jig is up. The key to the “no makeup” makeup look is actually wearing makeup. But I will keep it simple and show you how to look flawless like you really woke up like this.
Think of your face as a canvas. You want a blank one that means properly cleanse, tone, and hydrate your skin daily. Flawless is dedication, don’t play unless you want it. And the most important step to prepping your skin, exfoliation. You have to sloth off that dead skin otherwise your moisturizer will never penetrate and your make up will never go on as smoothly, no matter how great of a product it is.
I am a huge fan of priming your skin prior to applying any makeup, even long-wearing makeup. Call it habit or experience but it is a must. Start with an SPF preferably 35 or higher and once dry, apply primer.
Here is the fun part. First, conceal. Conceal under eyes, conceal blemishes, conceal all of your sins and then some. Just kidding but not. Then using a foundation in your exact shade (we will get to that in a moment), like Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup, buff a small amount into your skin. Use a beauty blender or a round tip foundation brush. Trust me application is different depending on the tool you use. Then starting from the center of the face, buff outward. Set with a translucent powder using a fan brush. You want enough to set but not so much you can see the makeup, again one of those things that only works with the right tool. Use a bronzer or a neutral colored blush, balm, and go. Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup’s formula works to visibly improve skin’s luminosity, tone and texture over time so you will get that flawless look each and every time.
Then when someone says “OMG your skin looks amazing!” Lie. Tell them you woke up like this.
In order for all of this to work, you know looking natural, your foundation must be an exact match. Matching is one of those hard things that I have found a lot of women (and men because we do not discriminate here) struggle with. It is real y’all. Even I use to skip foundation altogether because I couldn’t find the right shade in my early 20s. Just an FYI, if you think your color is perfect but you find yourself having to constantly blend it in, you’re not. Neutrogena has perfected the color match by creating a way to find your perfect shade online. Yep, I said online. Not to mention for us with a little more melanin, they have extended shades and this honey (and in the summer, caramel) complexed mama is beyond ecstatic.
Here’s how it all works.
Go here to take the quiz.
Answer questions on your hair color, eye color, skin type, etc. From there, the quiz gives you results on all the products you could and should be using, not just foundation.
By the way, they now carry both honey and caramel. Don’t I sound delicious? Anyway, all you have to do is answer a few questions and they color match you. I was skeptical at first and even after the color sounded right, I doubted it still. But guess what? I woke up like this today guys. 😉
