My trip of a lifetime feels like ages ago already. I had been waiting to go to Paris for over 15 years and last year when our then youngest turned one, my husband took us on the most amazing vacation. It was nothing if not epic but I would be lying if I said that motherhood had not changed the way I experienced the city, especially in terms of style and beauty.
It was far from the Sex & The City experience, where pieces I had stored and saved for their Parisian debut, no longer made sense. And so my first attempt at a capsule wardrobe, albeit it was more for ease of travel versus trend, was during this trip. It was also my first attempt at capsule beauty, same concept only carefully curating my makeup bag. Much to my surprise, the French weren’t all glitz and glamour despite the tales told by Hollywood. In fact, I never felt like a tourist, as my wardrobe and beauty routine, helped me blend seamlessly amongst the locals. Here are a few things I’ve learned since then.
Less is More
The crazed contouring trend we just love here was nowhere to be seen. And while I am sure the women wore foundation, it was something that went unnoticed. Either their color match is beyond perfection, or they prefer a lighter coverage.
*Tip: Blend a bit of your foundation with POND’S Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream to create a custom tinted moisturizer that not only benefits your skin but gives it an instant glow leaving skin looking fresh and radiant.
More is More
I do believe in taking your time with your skincare. We’ve read it in all the beauty magazines and it was evident in their skin, the French truly take their time with their skincare, never going to bed without thoroughly cleansing and then hydrating their skin. POND’S Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream is made with vitamin E, making it great to use at night so your skin rejuvenates and nourishes while you sleep.
*Tip: Exhausted from the day to day? Use a towelette to remove your makeup prior to washing, ensuring your face is fresh and better than washing alone.
Using anti-aging products are amazing but prevention is also key. Protect your skin from harmful rays with an SPF of 35 or higher. This should be applied prior to your daily moisturizer.
*Tip: A pressed, translucent powder with an SPF of 15 is a great way to touch up your protection throughout the day without adding a heavy layer.
Most women focus so much on anti-aging in their facial products that they forget how disloyal their necks and the back of their hands can be, instantly giving away their true age. Be sure to hydrate the neck and decollete area morning and night as well as the back of your hands with POND’S Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream, as it visibly reduces those telling signs in just two weeks.
*Tip: Those stylish neck scarves the French are so famously known for help in added protection from the elements while looking très chic.
