My twitter bio describes me as a high heel wearing mama, and I am. I love my heels but somewhere between baby one and baby two, I started to prefer wedges and by baby number three, I fully embraced flats. Not just because flats have come such a long way from plain slip ons to embellished ballet flats, but because practically is stylish. You see, when I go out with my husband, I wear my Christian Louboutins that he bought me because I drooled over Claire Underwood’s wardrobe during a Netflix binge of House of cards. Wearing them makes me feel powerful, ultra refined, all traits he finds sexy. When I go out with friends, I wear the bold colored heels because it breaks up the usually (and so typical of me) all black (or simply neutral) ensemble. My friends like my sense of fashion and while I am nonchalant about my new fun heels, I love the “OMGAAIGH, you look amazing!” type commentary that only comes with a great heel, and rightfully so. When I am with my kids, on the weekend, going to the store or simply living, I find comfort in a flat. I am unapologetic.
And so this summer has been the search for the perfect flat sandal. Shamefully, so was last summer. I browsed tirelessly online for every flat sandal I deemed worthy of my money and admiration. I searched to replace the beautiful $13 sandals I bought on clearance years ago and have worn during every heat wave since. They had seen better days. Being that I am sticking to my 3-Item plan, my choice had to be perfect, as I wasn’t going to blow it all on shoes this season, though not a bad idea. And so I found these and for under $50.
