I’m sharing #JOHNSONS in my life as part of a JOHNSON’S® sponsored series for Socialstars™
Fall is everything I love. Pumpkin patches, dark nail polishes, leather jackets, animal prints, basically everything about Fall has stolen my heart. Except for one thing. Dry skin. Once the air gets crisp, so does my skin. Unfortunately for all three of my kids, they have their mother’s severely dry skin. During a recent check-up, the pediatrician asked what soap I launder the clothes in. Apparently, their dry skin was just as bad as I suspected. So this year, we are working on making sure we don’t get stuck with itchy, dry skin so we can go back to loving everything about this season.
Since it is colder, it is only natural to want to soak longer in a warm bath. Unfortunately, too much of that good thing isn’t so good after all. Avoid hot showers for older kids and limit warm baths to 10 minutes for the younger ones so that they are not depleting their skin’s natural oils.
Launder Scent Free
I’ve taken to washing my kid’s clothing in a gentle, scent free soap. I’ve also made my own from recipes found on Pinterest. Clothes are just as fresh, just as soft, and yet they no longer irritate their already sensitive skin.
There is no need for harsh soaps and body washes. In fact, I love JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO-TOE® Extra Moisturizing Baby Wash so much, that I, myself, shower with it. I love the subtle scent and how my skin doesn’t feel super dry afterwards.
Moisturize as soon as the kids are out of the bath. Using JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO-TOE® Extra Moisturizing Cream on damp skin ensure the moisture is locked in. Also, apply lotion to cheeks and delicate skin if heading out for long walks or outdoor activity. Sun isn’t the only thing that burns, crisp air does too. Your baby’s delicate skin is up to 30% thinner and loses moisture 2x faster than yours so using something thicker during this time is a must.
The air inside can also get really dry depleting skin of moisture. I put a diffuser in the family room that releases a cool mist with all natural essential oils to keep skin from drying out, the house smelling wonderful naturally, and their moods uplifted during the darker months.
Keeping hydrated and locking in moisture is the only way to survive the brutal cold months up ahead, it is best to start taking better care now.
