This year, I wanted to have family photos taken. We have but a handful of family photos and none include the baby. That is not to say we don’t have plenty of photos with him, just not all of us in one shot at once. So of course, I scheduled a session and while it was just $125, it was $125 extra I didn’t want to spend this season. I had to settle for my favorite picture of the kids. That day, I was cleaning up the family room, the only one dressed was my oldest, the boys were in pajamas still and quite disheveled, but everyone was happy. Luckily my phone was in my pocket and I quickly snapped a picture of them.
How to get the perfect picture.
Catch them before they get messy.
My daughter has very long curls that tangle up quickly. I like to spray her hair with a JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES detangling spray and braid it before bed. She likes to take out her braid in the AM and show off her new waves. That is exactly why she was so smiley in this picture. She loved her hair and was happy to pose.
Make sure no one is tired.
I gave the boys a nice long bath before bed the night before. My bathroom was a soapy wet mess but they had fun. I have been using JOHNSON’S BEDTIME® Moisture Wash made with NATURALCALM® essences – a special blend of gentle and calming aromas. When I tell you these boys wake up still calm as a cucumber in the morning, I am only bragging. This is the perfect time to snap the photo.
How to turn your photo into a card.
Edit the photo on free software.
I use Picmonkey to edit photos and add lettering. Technically, I have the paid version but there is a free option. Or you can go to your local photo processing store, most places offer to turn your photos into cards, which is what I did.
I picked up holiday stamps for a more festive look and when I say I, I mean my husband because he had no faith these would go out in time. I also figured using colored pens to write the addresses.
Create faux seals.
Using a glob of red paint, I had my 2-year-old “stamp” the seal with his thumb. It takes some time to dry and can get a bit messy so I keep NEW JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO-TOE™ baby cleansing cloths because rest assure, it won’t be only his thumb we have to clean up.
