Earlier this year I made a commitment to go green in my wardrobe (read more about that here) and so once the weather became warmer, I would head out to the thrift to try and find pieces to add to my wardrobe. Truth is, I cleared out so much that didn’t fit or I no longer loved that my closet has dwindled down to pure nothingness. I couldn’t even get a capsule wardrobe going if I tried. So little by little, I’d head to the thrift store and pick up a piece or two here and there. Once I took my big girl so I can show her how fun it can be and she loved it so much, she was picking out pieces for me. Pieces like this tulle skirt that had the tags still on it and I scored for $4.99. Normally, I am not the frilly type. This is a piece the old me would have bought but never worn so I was hesitant in even getting it. But it turns out that it felt so a la’ Bradshaw (cliche, I know) that it felt fun and refreshing. Of course, I had to tone down the pretty with a leather jacket but that’s just what I do.
What types of pieces do you search for when thrifting?
