It has been forever since I had dark hair. In fact, I stopped dying my hair about two years ago and I genuinely loved it but now it was time for a change. Well, more like a blast from my past. I loved my hair jet black, as rich as it could be but I hated the damage that comes with dyed hair. Then, I heard about Schwarzkopf Keratin Color, a way to get rich color (and at my age, cover grays) without the damage. So I decided to go glam with Onyx Black.
Normally, I’d need two boxes to get an even color but Schwarzkopf Keratin Color comes with a pretreatment that allows for even color so for the first time ever, this chica only needed one box. After 30 minutes (for the darkest effect, you can leave on for 45 minutes), I washed out the color and treated my hair to the rich conditioning treatment Schwarzkopf offers with the at home coloring. My hair was soft to the touch and no funny after smell like you do with most at home coloring kits. A win in my book. The kids were fast asleep so I decided to try a rod set for the first time ever.
It wasn’t pretty so I decided to stick to what I know for the season and have fun with braids to show off my new rich hair color. In three easy steps, I glammed up my look for work.
1 Separate hair into two sections, one to french braid and one to leave loose.
2 Loosely braid one section, bringing it down towards the opposite side and tie.
3 Use the loose hair section to cover and lay over the end of the braid.
After adding a wave to my hair, I simply added a fresh braid to the side and pinned it back. I left one side to hang over my face to add to the glam factor and off I was. Voila. What do you think of my new hair? The difference is subtle but I feel like me again…or until I get the itch to color again.
